Smoked Nordic Sprats - hand-prepared and preserved the traditional way
Smoked Nordic sprats are the Danish counterpart to the classic sardine - a small, oil-rich fish with a deep, aromatic flavour rooted in generations of craft. BRISLING No. 1 is smoked over heather and camomile, which gives the fish a lightly floral character and a soft, nuanced smokiness that sets it clearly apart from southern European tinned sardines.
Sprats have been part of Nordic food traditions for decades. The fish are caught in cold Nordic waters, resulting in firm flesh with a naturally high content of omega-3 fatty acids. Every tin is prepared and packed by hand - a method that ensures the fish keep their shape and texture all the way to the table.
Smoking over heather and camomile is no coincidence. Heather adds a lightly resinous depth, while camomile rounds the flavour off with a subtle, herbal sweetness. The result is a preserve with a complex flavour profile that works as a topping on rye bread, as part of a Nordic tapas spread, or straight from the tin with mustard and crispbread.
The tin keeps for several years without refrigeration, which makes BRISLING No. 1 a practical and flavourful choice for everyday meals, travel or the gift table. Made without artificial additives.
