Sweden's national cheese, Västerbotten cheese, is produced by Norrmejerier in a small dairy in Burträsk, located in Västerbotten 800 km north of Stockholm. The cheese is made from cow's milk from Norrland's milk producers in the surrounding area. Västerbottensost has been made in the same way since 1872.
