Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru 'Les Vercots' - Pinot Noir from Burgundy

Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru 'Les Vercots' from Domaine Ravaut is a classic Burgundian Pinot Noir with a depth and complexity that reflects one of the Côte de Beaune's most respected Premier Cru areas. The wine is from the excellent 2020 vintage, which many critics have described as one of Burgundy's best of the decade - with ripe fruit and natural freshness in a rare balance.

On the nose, 'Les Vercots' presents a concentrated bouquet of dark cherries, juicy blueberries and fresh raspberries, supported by subtle notes of vanilla, cedar and light spice from the careful oak ageing. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied without appearing heavy. The tannins are silky and well-defined - typical of great Pinot Noirs from Aloxe-Corton - and the aftertaste lasts more than 45 seconds, a sign of a wine with real complexity and terroir expression.

The soil in 'Les Vercots' consists primarily of red ferruginous limestone and clay, which contributes to the wine's characteristic mineral backbone and color intensity. It is precisely this combination of soil and microclimate that distinguishes Aloxe-Corton from the neighboring appellations of Pernand-Vergelesses and Chorey-lès-Beaune.

Ravaut is a family-run domaine with roots deeply planted in Aloxe-Corton. The vineyard is cultivated according to traditional principles with low yields per hectare, which concentrates flavor and structure in each glass. The 2020 vintage is now in an opening phase and can be advantageously decanted 30-45 minutes before serving.

Serving temperature: 16-18°C. The wine goes naturally with game, lamb culottes, duck with cherry sauce, ripe Époisses or Comté.
