"Queen Sophia" is an IPA from Gurre Bryghus.
Tastefulness has chosen Queen Sophia for the Nordsjællandskassen. This beer was chosen because it is a nice characteristic IPA - well hopped and nice bitter.
Queen Sophia was the wife of Valdemar the Great, and was a little bitter about his frill, Tove-Lil. That is why she has become Gurre Bryghus' IPA. 😊
Martin Brauer and his family, who are behind Gurre Bryghus, live in Gurre themselves. Martin brewed his first beer in 2008 - a Christmas beer he called Valdemar Atterjul.
Martin's beer tastes good, but he also believes that the beer is inextricably linked to the story of the Valdemars who have lived at Gurre Borg with their queens, mistresses and friends - from Gurre Borg being built in 1150 until Valdemar Atterdag left the place in 1500- the number.
7% alcohol. Served at 6-9 degrees.
